This page is for our guests arriving in Medan, if you are travelling with us we recommend printing this page and keeping it with you.

IN MEDAN:

If you have booked the transfer package you will be met at Medan airport, and transported to either your domestic flight to the charter or your Medan hotel if you’re staying the night. Your boards may need to be sent in advance, please have items you might need in Medan separate from your boardbag. In the event of airline delays, Our representatives will be able to collect your bags and connect you to domestic travel arrangements.

When you get off the plane, head towards passport control, have your documentation handy for checks, this will make your experience easier, getting through customs in Medan can be slow so try to be patient. When travelling to Indonesia it is essential to check in advance if are eligible for Visa on Arrival and also if payment is required for the country in which you are a national of? If so this can be up to $35.00 USD in cash! At the moment it is free if you are and Australian citizen (But best to always carry some Green Backs to cover this if the situation changes)

When in the luggage hall to get your bags, do not accept any offers of assistance from anyone. If you have booked the transfer package with your charter, staff should be waiting outside the luggage hall in front of the main exit. Our staff will easily recognise you with your boardbag, and will find you in the airport if you get delayed for any reason. Call your skipper at the numbers below if you have any problems.

The best way to get local currency is the ATM at the airport (if you have a card that has the Cirrus or PLUS logos, and almost all do, or a Mastercard or Visa it will work on one of the many machines). 1 USD roughly equals 13,000 rupiah, You won’t need that much local money as there is nowhere to spend it on the boat, but it is handy to have for Medan departure tax (Rp 200,000), leaving tips for the boat staff, some lunch massage, beer on arrival, etc. We recommend getting a couple of million ($200) when you arrive and then you have options. You can always change it back at the end if you don’t use it, but you never know when it might come in handy.

If you are asked to indicate an address in Indonesia, use your hotel name or “Seriti Boat charter, Lahewa, Nias”.

IN GUNUNGSITOLI:

Once you arrive in Gunungsitoli on the Monday of departure you will be met by our representative and transported on a two hour drive north to Lahewa Harbour where the Seriti is moored. Later that afternoon you will be met by your skipper Suzuki to finalise the paperwork before leaving port during evening.

Skipper Suzuki Katsuyoshi – (+62 813 62779470) will be with the boat – you can contact him at any time in the three days before departure if you have any issues or questions.

ON RETURN:

Guests will awake in port at Lahewa on Friday morning, then after breakfast will be transported by car to Gunungsitoli airport for your flight to Medan. (We recommend departing Medan on the day after return, if your flight out is before 7pm)

COMMUNICATIONS:

There is no cellphone coverage in most places in the Banyaks, but in case of emergency the satellite phone number for the Seriti is +870776140216 – if anyone at home needs to reach you urgently they can also send a brief message via email: 870776205811@message.inmarsat.com (Less than 120 characters).

If you need to get a local SIM card, the Telkomsel network has intermittent coverage at Bay of Plenty, you can also use your phone’s roaming when the Seriti is in that area.
