All Aboard the Seriti
“Seriti”, a US-built, Indonesian-flagged 25 m aluminium crew boat has been fully customised for Sumatra surf charters operation. The Seriti sleeps up to 14 passengers. There are 12 beds comprising 2 Doubles and 10 king singles, each with power socket and reading light. Comfortable inner-sprung beds throughout with two air-conditioned cabins and a separate quarters for up to 6 crews. Spacious and comfortable, it features an air conditioned saloon with two large sofas, tables and TV/video/music entertainment area.
At the rear of the boat is a huge deck area, hard covered where you can watch the action in the water, or head up to the top deck for a 360-degree view of the beautiful Banyak Islands which is also wired for sound. Hammock option is also available.

The Seriti is one of the safest Mentawai surf charters operating in Indonesia, with a full suite of equipment including life rafts and life jackets, smoke detectors, EPIRB; CO2 emergency fire system; VHF and SSB radios, satellite telephone (available to guests for US$5/min), and a 10,000 litres fresh water tank. It has 2 x 350HP CUMMINS NTA855M Turbo After cooler main engines running at a maximum speed of 15 knots (cruising speed 10-12 knots).

There are also plenty of power points (240 V) on board for charging your electronics. These are mainly Indo plugs, please be sure to bring the appropriate adapter for your electronic equipment.
Our menu varies daily & tasty, with a range of Western and Indonesian style dishes including beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian cuisine.
Surf Banyak can cater to most dietary requirements. Please let us know when you fill in your customer information form. The fishing is great around the Banyaks so you might be the one catching dinner! We have a number of rods, reels, spear guns and equipment on board. You are welcome to bring your own gear. Surf Banyak always advise that you bring your own tracers and lures as it can be difficult for us to source them all the time.
The Seriti operates out of the port of Lahewa in North Nias. A full transfer service from Kuala Namu International Airport (KNO) in Medan is available: see our Getting To Your Charter page for information. Most guests travel to Medan via Singapore (Silk Air, JetStar), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian, Air Asia) or Jakarta (Garuda).
All Seriti Surf charters run for 10 surfing days, departing on Monday evening and returning on Friday morning. Guests arriving in Medan must do so before 9 am on departure date, and cannot leave Medan before 8 pm on the return date.
It is recommended that you arrive in Medan the day before your Indo surf charters (Sunday) and spend the night in Medan to ensure all luggages have arrived. Surf Banyak can get your boards down to the boat on time as we can not always guarantee that the local airlines flying into Gunungsitoli will put all boards on all flights due to small aircraft.
If you can arrive the day before, we can send some boards unaccompanied and secure on the early morning flight and then have remaining boards go with guests on the lunch time flight to Nias. This is the lowest risk option. The highest risk option is, to arrive on day of Banyak surf charters before 9 am and then try to get guests and their boards on the lunch time flight.
You are welcome to spend time in Medan before or after the trip if you want to experience the third largest city in Indonesia for yourself or just want to give yourself a night at each end before transferring back home. Please note that the airport in Medan is 1.5 hrs drive from the city but there is good accommodation close to the airport at The Wings or The Crew Hotels!
For all bookings a deposit of US$1000 per person is required, with full trip cost payable 120 days in advance of sail date. A minimum of 7 passengers is usually required to sail. Rates for exclusive use of the boat for groups of less than 12 passengers are available.
